The Origin of Chateau Bluebury

Leslie Wayne Salsbury, a Welch descendant, from the Salsbury line dating back to the battle of Agin-court, France in 1416, fell in love with a Canadian French descendent, Luanne Marie LaRose.

When Luanne was a little girl of three, her friend could not say “Luanne”.  She called Luanne, “Bluanne”.  It later was shortened to “Blue”, as it was a favorite nickname that Luanne’s mother and father enjoyed calling her.

Leslie was charmed by Luanne’s nickname, Blue.  When they were house shopping together, they toured a mansion in Easton, PA designed by Horace Trumbauer, the architect who designed the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  The house was owned by two attorneys, who were married for many years, into their old age.  The husband loved his wife so much, that he named the mansion after her.   As time went on, she became very ill and tragically passed away.   Grief stricken with the loss, he could never go  back to the house again.  The home was sold in 2018, but not to Leslie and Luanne.  They settled on a mansion in Quakertown, PA.  Leslie decided to name the mansion after his beloved wife,  because he was so taken with the story of the Trumbauer house in Easton and he, too,  was deeply  in love with his wife.   Leslie took Luanne’s nickname, “Blue” and the last half of his sir name “Salsbury” and created the name “Chateau Bluebury”.  Chateau is the French word for castle.  It’s pronounced like the fruit, “Chateau Blueberry”, only spelled differently as a token of a man’s love for his wife.
Welcome, to Chateau Bluebury.
